Old Fashioned Sunday

It was a beautiful day in Randolph recently as more than 200 people attended the yearly Old Fashioned Sunday celebrations at the Friendship Bible Church. The Gospel from an 1861 sermon by Charles Spurgeon , entitled “God’s First Words To The First Sinner”, was shared by Pastor Bill Johnson who was  also dressed like Spurgeon .  Everyone enjoyed roasted pig and chicken prepared by Luke Ward which accompanied the covered dishes carried in by the congregation as in the olden days. Great Gospel music of Bobby Bowen and his family was performed during the morning and afternoon services along with congregational singing and other special groups during the afternoon.  Winners of the pie contest included Eleanor Jones in first place with her Toasted Coconut Pecan Carmel Pie, second went to Beth Salisbury for her Chocolate Pudding Pie , and third place went to  Cheryl Salisbury for a Deep Dish Apple Cider Pie. Some of the best dressed in old fashion attire included the Salisbury family, Eleanor Jones, Paul Richards and Bob Smith.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the good service, fellowship, food and music in an old fashioned way.
